A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an experienced Attorney or Counsel to join its Toxic Tort and Complex Litigation practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated litigation matters alongside a collaborative team of skilled attorneys representing clients in complex toxic tort and product liability disputes.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling toxic tort matters and the ability to independently manage cases through all phases of litigation.
Responsibilities
- Manage toxic tort and complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Conduct factual investigations and develop case strategy.
- Handle all aspects of written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
- Prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
- Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts.
- Draft and argue substantive motions in California state and federal courts.
- Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal as necessary.
- Collaborate with clients, experts, and legal teams to develop effective litigation strategies.
- Provide practical legal advice and strategic recommendations to clients.
Qualifications
Required
- Active California Bar license and good standing.
- Minimum 3 years of litigation experience, with significant toxic tort experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience handling matters in California state and federal courts.
- Strong deposition, discovery, motion practice, and case management skills.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy abilities.
- Ability to independently manage a substantial caseload.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Experience with asbestos, benzene, environmental exposure, chemical exposure, silica, talc, or related toxic tort matters.
- Trial experience in complex civil litigation.
- Experience supervising junior attorneys or litigation teams.
- Familiarity with complex expert-driven litigation.
